Product Camp Toronto 2010 -- "Grounded Vision"

Your host is off to ProductCamp Toronto (http://www.productcamp.org/toronto/) tomorrow (May 30th).  This full-day volunteer-run event presents almost 20 sessions in three tracks:  Product Management 101, Start Me Up! and Advanced Product Management.  Your host is particularly looking forward to the item on "Product Marketing In The Overall Scheme Of Product Management".

Why entitle this blog item "Grounded Vision"?  Product Managers and Product Marketing Managers perform tasks that are central to the rational pursuit of beneficial change.  "Vision", especially in a time of social media amplification, is no guarantee of success.  The Product Manager has the mandate to sift visions -- where a "vision" is the imagination of beneficial future states for any given system -- and to build that vision into a reality, thus "grounding the vision".

You can't charge rent on "castles in the air".
